Birmingham Heart Rhythm Group is an independent group of consultant cardiologists whose main specialism is heart rhythm problems (arrhythmias), backed by broad experience across cardiology as a whole. We work together, both within the NHS at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and in private practice, to give patients across the West Midlands and beyond access to leading-edge diagnosis and treatment — and where something falls outside our particular expertise, we know exactly who to bring in.
Between us, we’ve carried out more than 10,000 electrophysiology procedures since 2002, including around 5,500 to treat atrial fibrillation.
Our safety record
We regularly review our outcomes so you can make an informed choice. Looking back over our last 4,686 procedures:
- 0.09% resulted in a heart block needing a pacemaker
- 0.3% involved bleeding around the heart
- 0.15% involved bleeding at the catheter entry point
- 0.08% resulted in a stroke
